One-Minute Style Guide "How to Wear the Scarf Necklace"

Summary: Designed in a circle or loop, the Scarf Necklace can be worn multiple ways for different looks.

1. Single, double or triple loop the Scarf Necklace similar to an infinity scarf or long string of beads to create the desired length.

2. Lariat or French Knot - Extend the scarf necklace in half lengthwise and place the entire scarf necklace behind your head. Pull both loops forward. Make the lengths uneven, insert the long length through the loop of the short length. Let it hang. Lean forward, grab the strands beside your neck pulling them slightly away from your neck and give them a shake for stands to spread out and down.

A GemLace is like a scarf without the warmth and like chunky jewellery without the weight.  They are made by hand from 3-5 different types of metallic yarns to get the right shimmer, bulk and softness. Each GemLace weighs less than 20 grams.

There are several ways to put the GemLace scarf on. The GemLace is made in a loop. Traditionally, I extend the GemLace  in half lengthwise, place the scarf behind my head and pull both loops forward, make the lengths uneven, insert the long length through the loop of the short length, then grab the two sides with my two hands and give it a shake. You can also double or triple loop the GemLace similar to an infinity scarf or long length of beads. Instructions are included on the tag attached to the organza bag. There is also a video demo "How to Wear a GemLace" in the Video Blog section at www.scarflady.ca

The GemLace is made of 3-5 different types of metallic yarns depending on the color pattern. The yarns are made of a combination of nylon and metallic or polyester and lurex. This information is on the packaging tag.

The GemLace is quite strong and durable. They are made from yarns that can be used to make clothes. Surprisely, they do not tangle. Hang them with your belts or scarves at home. When travelling, put the GemLace in the organza travel bag it comes in. This ensures it does not get caught in the zipper of the suitcase. The GemLace may be washed by hand and hung to dry if it gets dirty.
